Kate Bishop was elected to the Board in November 2020. She is an activist, parent advocate, fourth generation Chula Vistan, and proud daughter of a lifelong teacher. Her mother and husband’s families went through the Chula Vista Elementary School District, and she has two children, one of whom is still a student in CVESD.
Ms. Bishop has a BA in Theatre from UC San Diego and is a professional costume designer for theatre and film. She has designed costumes for theatres all over San Diego County, TV shows on obscure channels, movies that were never released, and a music video for a pop icon that she wishes was not still available on YouTube. Ms. Bishop is also on the Chula Vista Cultural Arts Commission and advocated for parents through her service on the Chula Vista Elementary Council of PTAs Executive Board 2017 through 2020. She believes that student success is best achieved when all stakeholders work together in a partnership, through excellent communication, transparency, and respect.
